This is adorable. I really like how you made both the woman and the horse look happy, also flowy hair on both makes it interesting. But I really like how the colors fit nicely and the bright gold of her hair piece matches the horse. Betting that's why she chose it.
Also, the first thing I noticed was your signature and how nicely it fit
You do like it? Good. I changed it, since writing out the whole website name wasn't working for my wrists. I can tire them up somewhat easily - especially if I'm inking something as complicated as hair. I would rather spend my efforts on that than writing out "tumblr.com"... :]
The gold decoration should echo a hoof shape - I was thinking she would be more Rohan-cultured if she had horse motifs on her.
You are a machine! An art machine! I won't pretend that I'm not super excited, though. Thank you! I love seeing other people's takes on characters, you always find something you wouldn't have thought of on your own to integrate in.
PS - Yes for more Oasis. I've become invested in this relationship. And also in the antics of the disapproving dwarf dames. You know there are antics.
This art machine runs on tea and poached eggs. Beep bop.
Also I think that accidental exploration is inevitable when people don't know all the ins and outs of the character's personality and history like you, the creator, do. The trick is to know just enough details to not represent them completely out of their character. I tried going through your gallery to see more examples of Arma to get a better idea, but didn't quite find anything… maybe you should draw more of her. :b
And I am working on part 9. Going for a less… surgery-room-clean approach to the lines this time around. I personally prefer that to the tighter line anyway, but we'll see what the masses will say. The DDD should probably just get their own comic.
I think it's a mixture of that and just, you have a set concept for a character in your head, and that's hard to change until someone else comes up with something and you go "WHY DID I NOT THINK OF THAT??" Like putting an egg on a grilled cheese. I am sadly lacking in Arma pictures, I will have to try to fix this now. SPEAKING OF, does Mir usually wear dresses, or has she picked up trousers in her travels? (I realized this is a question I should have asked a bit ago =_
I, personally, love the sketchy, less refined line look. So you can always blame me if the masses revolt. That style seems to work well for comics because it conveys a lot of energy. The D3, perhaps? ... But not a movie about a rag-tag group of misfits who play hockey.
Nulmiril wears the pants in every relationship. Even the one with her wardrobe… it's the only stable one, anyway.
So to be more serious, she goes for 'practical in case I need to fight'-type outfits - pants, low-heel boots, and NO CAPES. Dresses are a last resort type thing, since they're awfully prone to getting in the way.
…but no, the irony of her being drawn either naked or in a dress isn't entirely lost on me. I'm just having trouble coming up with an outfit that would stick - needs to be a good combination of 'elvish' and 'badass warrior' enough.
That I like the face shape you gave her and I need to draw her being more expressive. I feel an expression sheet in my future.
Hahaha. She seems to be playing it pretty low key with Kadir, though to be fair he didn't find her with many clothes to begin with. Nulmiril + Wardrobe from Beauty and the Beast? *strange internet ship?*
Excellent, pants it is. The always capes during battle thing never seems to make sense, does it? I get that they're supposed to be there to keep people warm, but I don't think that works anymore when they are soaked through and there is a battle. The new movie helping at all with the clothing? There's more elf-fighting in the most recent, with elven non-armor duds. Actual metal armor never seems like it'd be forgiving or light enough for elves to move around like they should in it.
Haha, the wardrobe. Good call, I hadn't remembered a literal wardrobe. And yes. Yessss to expressssssionsssss.
And thinking more on the subject, something like the last outfit in this lineup (ancalinar.deviantart.com/art/L… seems to be I gravitate most toward. ...but minus the horned headdress (I usually pretend the hornes magi-shrink to something like this ancalinar.deviantart.com/art/I… when she doesn't need to look foolish/in parade uniform...)
Also, too lazy to find that Incredibles bit where Edna Mode yells out "NO CAPES" but you get the idea. :b
That wardrobe did a lot of loud singing, I feel like the relationship may not work out. Once gifts are done I think expressions are next. Any you'd suggest?
I dig the Loki-esque outfits. They fit her well, and of course Loki knows his fashion. There's nothing wrong with some headdresses. They seem acceptable in Mirkwood, at least. She's not Silvan so she might be able to get away with it without getting any side-eye.
That's pretty much exactly what I thought of. Elves being sucked into jet-engines.
